Diego Palacios
Although he was first trained to be an economist and a wine taster, Diego Palacios is a professional artist. “Art was more substantial, and I had to give it all away to paint.” says Diego. Now, painting is a big part of his life. Today, we talked about his personal life and artistic career for only you, dear Artleovers!
What inspires you the most? Do you get inspiration from other disciplines?
I guess I find painting inspiring since it makes me feel I am using my time to value a lot for my life. I see art history and its mysteries also pretty inspiring. Also, other painters, life, sex, everything…
Do you think that you have a particular style? If so, how did you find it?
Hmmm, I guess I am a figurative painter with a particular way of confronting the painting problem, I imagine.

What are your tools and mediums?
Oil on canvas, computers.
Which paintings do you have in your house? Do you follow other contemporary artists?
I must admit some of my older paintings and portraits of kids are at my place. There are some posters and postcards. I follow many contemporary artists, from Odd Nerdrum to Mr. Kern.
What do you want to capture paintings of human figures in motion?
A sense of indefiniteness, possibility, time…
What was the first exhibition you visited?
I remember the first one who affected me was Claudio Bravo at the Fine Arts Museum in Santiago in Chile.
Which city do you live in? Do you get inspiration from your city?
I live in Leipzig, Germany, which I find as inspiring as depressing. A good mix.

Do you have any turning points in your life regarding your art?

How do you earn life? Are there other things you do besides your art to survive?
I am a full-time painter, and so I rely on it to live.
